BESPOKE HOUSE DESIGN

McAleenan Architects + Interior Design were appointed to provide full architect and interior design service for this traditional house design in rural Armagh. Taking a holistic approach from the very beginning of the design process meant the exterior architecture of the home could run seamlessly through to the interior architecture and interior design.

Traditional rural building forms and proportions make up the main house accommodating the bedrooms and traditional lounge, while the open plan kitchen living dining is housed within a contemporary extension style area with large glazed openings creating a connection to the stunning countryside and tranquil surroundings.

The plan for this home was to use traditional building materials and continue these from the exterior of the home through to the interior creating beautiful features within the house. The Armagh limestone which forms the exterior walls of the home also forms part of the main living space and is mixed with other earthy wood and stone materials creating a beautiful natural styled space which perfectly meshes the mix of traditional and contemporary interior design desired for this area of the home.

The main body of the house uses traditional interior architecture features with large 2 panelled doors surrounded by 3-piece architraves and half wall panelling throughout. Reclaimed parquet flooring spans throughout the ground floor of the home adding to the elegant and aged feel of this stunning interior.

Having the Architect and Interior Designer working together from the very beginning of the project means the architecture and interior design and detailing of this home has blended perfectly. The result is an absolutely stunning design both inside and out and this exciting build is beginning to really take shape.
