The client brief for this bespoke dwelling called for a traditional Irish farm-house with a contemporary take on a traditional farm out-building to the rear. The design layout of the dwelling is a reaction to the brief requirements along with the site features and parameters. The design includes a traditionally proportioned and detailed two-storey “farm-house” block to the road facing side of the site with a contemporary glazed and splayed link providing the connection to a contemporary styled barrel vaulted “out-building” structure to the rear of the site. The barrel vaulted element accommodates the open plan kitchen/dining/living space and uses large glazed openings to frame views over the surrounding countryside and provide access to the landscaped external spaces.
