This bespoke house design uses a simple and well-proportioned traditional form for its main body of accommodation with a contemporary timber “box” garden pavilion on a breath-taking waterfront site at Reagh Island, Co. Down. With no formal delineation of the site boundary the modest dwelling size and layout respects its secluded and Stunning location and nestles within the mature surrounding planting allowing the external spaces to bleed out into its natural surroundings. The orientation of the site and Lough views informed the layout with the all internal spaces relating to the waterfront. The design uses a thick stone wall to act as a separation between the formal entrance and the internal living accommodation located behind on the tranquil waterside of the site. Traditional building forms and materials are complimented by crisp modern detailing to achieve a sensitive and contemporary aesthetic for the dwelling in this beautiful natural setting.
